Ohio - Dayton

We spent a full week in Dayton, staying at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base FamCamp.  It took us four days, or over 16 hours to see the National Museum of the Air Force.  There are four very large hangers filled with aircraft, artifacts, and personal stories from the early days of aviation up to and including the space program.   The museum has an Imax Theatre with three different shows although we only watched one.   It is an unbelievable collection and we strongly recommend it to everyone.  Check out their website at www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/virtualtour/index.asp

We visited the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park,  commemorating the achievements of the Wright brothers.  The park has several sites, including the Wright Cycle Company where the brothers designed and perfected their flying machine and the Huffman Prairie Flying field where they continued to refine their designs after returning from Kitty Hawk, NC.
